About

ChrisWelcome to my blog! My name is Chris and I live in San Diego, California. I’m an early adopter of technologies, and I love the automotive industry and developing websites that use new technologies.

What’s this about a show?

I’m the host of my own automotive DIY show called Motorz which airs every week on TV, TiVo, iTunes, and at over 40 different places, showing vehicle owners how to maintain their vehicles and install products on their rides.

What’s in your head?

I’ve had a personal home page in one form or another since the early 1990’s. I love learning new technologies and putting them to work with new ideas. I pride myself on acting on my ideas and inventions instead of ignoring them. I have a broad knowledge of computer software and hardware, the Internet, technology, protocols, databases, graphics, video, streaming technologies, business and marketing. Having these skills allows me to quickly bring to life new ideas from start to finish, sometimes in the matter of a few days. Many of my current projects are examples of this drive I have.

What would you say ya do here?

“I deal with the goddamn customers so the engineers don’t have to.” (Office Space reference) Today I run two side businesses (Duke Networks and X7 Media) and work for a small company that develops software as a service (SaaS). In my spare time I work on several other projects that can be seen on my portfolio page. I love to be busy, working on several projects at once. Past employers include Microsoft, SAIC, TEN Magazines, and O’Reilly & Associates.

In my recent past I am best known professionally for creating one of the largest online community web sites for truck enthusiasts, which included Ford Truck World and numerous others that are visited by over a million truck enthusiasts every month. I was also an editor, photographer and writer for a print magazine called “Ford Truck World” with six covers and over 300 editorial pages published nationally on major newsstands.

Dig deeper, back to your Mosaic days…

Going back a little further in time, I was the sole inventor and developer of “WebBoard”, the first available web-based forum software package during the Internet boom of the mid-90’s, I continually strive to push the envelope of online community development. My past life during the late 90’s also included creating four developer news sites (VBWire.com, ASPWire.com, CEWire.com, SQLWire.com) which were later sold to internet.com for an insane amount of money (gotta love the old dot com days!)

A few of my favorite things…

Chargers, Padres, “Office Space“, “Anchorman“, “CSI” (all 3), “Friday Night Lights“, Brian Regan, guitars, Ford trucks, surfing, crème brûlée, Jack Daniels, Coke, margaritas, beer, Canon photography, rock music (classic to modern), iPhone.

Thanks a bunch for reading my blog!
